Better Life Farming (BLF) Project with SFPCL., Dindori, Nashik

The Better Life Farming (BLF) Project is an integrated agriculture initiative implemented with Saptashrungi FPCL to improve farmer livelihoods through end-to-end support. The project combines better inputs, scientific practices, advisory services, and market access to make farming more productive and sustainable.

Project of Ashwattha Advisors Pvt. Ltd. (Subsidiary of TechnoServe Inc.) with SFPCL

This project aims to build the institutional capacity of FPOs and transform them into viable business entities through market facilitation support, ensuring smallholder farmers are better integrated into agricultural markets and realize better prices for their produce.

Strawberry Cold Chain and Storage Operations

SFPCL is establishing a cold storage facility for strawberries to enable year-round availability of the produce. The facility will employ blast freezing at minus 40°C, followed by storage at plus 20°C, ensuring maintenance of quality and freshness.

Frozen Strawberry (Blast Freezing Processed)

SFPCL produces blast-frozen strawberries, which are processed and stored to preserve quality and nutritional content. The facility ensures that strawberries are maintained under controlled temperature conditions, making them suitable for industrial supply to food processing, ice cream manufacturing, and pharmaceutical companies.

Strawberry Pulp Production

SFPCL has established a strawberry pulping unit to process strawberries stored throughout the year. The unit enables aseptic extraction and storage of strawberry pulp, ensuring consistent quality and availability.

SFPCL intends to establish a strawberry wine production facility leveraging the abundant local availability of raw strawberries. Market studies indicate that the production of strawberry wine is limited in India, presenting an opportunity to enter a niche segment.

Agri-Tourism Activities on Strawberry Farms

SFPCL intends to establish a strawberry agri-tourism facility aimed at providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the strawberry value chain, including cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and processing into various products such as jams, juices, chocolates, and pulp. The facility is designed to allow direct engagement of visitors, enabling them to experience farming practices and understand the processes involved in producing high-quality strawberries.

Employment Generation

In Nashik district, strawberries are grown in areas known as remote tribal areas. We are trying to accommodate local people as much as possible in this stream. We are always committed to empowering women and creating employment for local peoples.

2017-Present

Development of an Integrated Strawberry Supply Chain

SFPCL has established an integrated strawberry supply chain in Nashik district, providing imported mother plants, farmer training, group farming support, and direct procurement of harvested produce. The Company also manufactures punnet-making machinery and packaging punnets to support post-harvest handling.

2015-2023

Agricultural Input Distribution & Farmer Facilitation Centre

In 2015, SFPCL established an Agricultural Input Distribution and Farmer Facilitation Centre at Khoriphata, providing low-cost seeds, crop guidance, and training to member farmers. The facility houses the Better Life Farming Center, supporting farmer meetings, training programs, and distribution of strawberry mother plants.

2017-2020

Domestic Bulk Trading of Onions and Pilot Export to Italy

Between 2017 and 2020, SFPCL procured and transported over 2,500 metric tonnes of onions to domestic markets, including Chennai, Trichy, and Bangalore. In 2019, the Company conducted a pilot export of 50 metric tonnes of onions to Italy, which received positive feedback from buyers.

2015-16

Integrated Grape and Tomato Pack House Operations at Chandikapur

Under the National Horticulture Mission, SFPCL established pack houses and a Farmer Facility Center at the Chandikapur (Vani) clusters for grading, sorting, and post-harvest handling of grapes and tomatoes. These facilities have enhanced price realization for member farmers and supported training and capacity building in cultivation and post-harvest management.

2014-15

Tomato and Grape Procurement and Marketing

SFPCL commenced its operations by facilitating the collective marketing of tomatoes and grapes produced by its member farmers. During the financial year 2014–15, the Company aggregated and marketed approximately 450 metric tonnes of tomatoes, which were supplied directly to institutional processors, including Capricon Food Products and Varun Agro.
